Spyker seize Midland

It surely won’t be the most exciting revelation of the Italian Grand Prix weekend, but one of Formula One’s long-running sagas of the 2006 season has drawn to a close.

Alex Schnaider has finally confirmed the sale of MidlandF1, to Dutch sports car firm Spyker. Spyker cars was established in 1999, taking the name of a Dutch car builder that originated at the end of the 19th century.

Spyker are headed by Michiel Mol, who owns Lost Boys, which sponsor Christijan Albers. That surely boosts his chances of keeping his seat with the team for next year. He may also be partnered by Dutch Red Bull test driver Robert Doornbos, whom he partnered past year.

Or it could herald another return for Jos ‘The Boss’ Verstappen…
