Sebastien Bourdais extended his championship lead with another dominant win as the Champ Car World Series made its return to Europe.

But Bruno Junqeira stole the show by grabbing second for Dale Coyne racing after a canny gamble on fuel strategy. He survived a late assault by Justin Wilson who fell back to fifth behind Graham Rahal and Will Power.

Robert Doornbos ran second early on but fell back to seventh behind Oriol Servia. Simon Pagenaud also led briefly after missing a pit stop under safety car conditions – he ended the race 12th.

The second race in Champ Car’s European double header is at Assen in the Netherlands next weekend.
