Honda have revealed they are sticking with their innovative ‘Earth Car’ livery for a second year in 2008.
The RA108 features the familiar green and blue globe printed on last year’s car, but merged with Honda’s traditional colours of white and red.

Looks better than the old one, livery-wise.

Ugly ugly ugly, I prefer last year’s livery!
But I’m more concerned that Honda are following a different design path than the other teams yet again (the shape of their nose looks about 5 years old) – I’m worried they’ll struggle again :(

Heh, still can’t get any sponsors.
29th January 2008, 14:18
From the side it looks like a BMW
29th January 2008, 14:50
Im sure they can get sponsors. This is just a great PR campaign because every blogger that is in any way concerned about the enviorment will probably write about Honda F1. id say thats great exposure for the Honda name.
Now lets hope that the car will usually finish at least in the top 10 heh

Perhaps – here’s some of the bloggers reactions from last year. They’re not all positive!
29th January 2008, 15:36
Just as bad as last years.
29th January 2008, 15:39
I agree with Scott. From the side it looks just like the BMW, with the blue sidepods and white body! Still, it is much much better than what they had in 2007.

Ha. I just noticed the “earth dreams” decals. Maybe those should just say “Honda”. “Earth dream”, “my earth dream”, or whatever, is just too cheesy.
29th January 2008, 15:48
I think it’s better than last year – the Earth stuff is a lot smaller, perhaps next year it will be gone completely!
A nice design totally in white and red would be the bees knees.
29th January 2008, 16:08
White, green, red and aqua blue, that well known colour combination. I think it looks a bit weird – it doesn’t quite work.
29th January 2008, 17:20
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. honestly, Honda, that’s just gross
29th January 2008, 17:51
I keep expecting the worst from Honda, at yet somehow they manage to “surpass” it by going even lower.
29th January 2008, 18:56
Yep, definately worse than last years livery….actually it looks like whoever’s responsible for it had a really bad night before the deadline then decided to quickly get something out with a quick mock up in Illustrator.
The red blue and white reminds me of British Airways.
As a side note, I just checked one of the spam email accounts I have – apparently I was one of the many thousands who had pledged to Honda’s Earth Dream last season and got the name on the car.

I’d also argue that advertising reduces the duration of viewership of F1.
An average viewer sits down to watch a race, it starts, it settles down, not much happens in the first few laps, the adverts come on so he flips to another channel…
How many viewers does F1 lose that way?
29th January 2008, 19:46
I guess at least it’s not another red and white car.
29th January 2008, 21:14
with that nose it looks like a very fast snow shovel – or perhaps another organic material – F1 is not about saving the planet – it is the equivalent – without the fatalities of course of chariot racing – wheel to wheel stuff with the baddie(literal excess there)- and the goodie battling it out – but the days of shoving an opponent(accidentally of course) of the track went with earlier rivals – wait a minute – thats what the big nose is for!! – brilliant thinking honda

Poor Jense has to drive the ugliest car on the grid again!
….the first thing I noticed, like many of you,was the nose(or is that a loader bucket)-take the run off pit and just scoop the gravel out of your way…Ha!
Let’s just hope it is faster.
29th January 2008, 22:27
I actually don’t mind it……
My fave car so far is the Force India car. Man, that thing looks hot !
29th January 2008, 23:48
I am not sure who is managing the Honda branding, but they need to be sacked. Their is no consistency or recognisable element since they lost the Lucky Strike deal. I honestly believe if they where going to stick with the whole Dream Earth concept then they should have kept the exact livery from last year. It is almost as if someone has said that the car will be faster if it is painted differently….erm, no, more fundamental than that I am afraid Ross!
30th January 2008, 1:50
Hello Scott (above),
The car would be faster if it were a diferent colour, RED works well, SILVER is a second choice…….
30th January 2008, 4:49
I like it – no, really. But I must agree with pink peril about the Force India car. It looks the business.
30th January 2008, 6:49
Any livery is an improvement over the ghastly “earth” colors last year. Has Honda reported on how many people signed up for “personal” sponsorships last year? Just curious.
And if the car performs better than last year Jense and Rubens will have no trouble running a bucket nose!

According to Honda it raised £98,000 last year, which it donated to the Marine Stewardship Council and Forest Stewardship Council. As people could donate whatever they wanted that doesn’t help us figure out how many donated, but I would’ve thought they’d have expected to raise more than a five-figure sum.

as daniel says there are internatinal agreements to govern sattelite broadcasts in different countries – the foot – it is this system that allows different regional programs to be broadcast through the uk – but if you have a look at a product know as a slingbox – there site is very funny/informative – it s a electronic box which when connected to a computer using a normal b/band set up which eables you to watch your tv/sattelite system – sky+ programs in your planner from anywhere in the world – got one and it works – so if any of you are going on your summer hols and you want to watch the racing you can catch it on your laptop – how cool is that – will be using it up at gairloch this year in the tent!! – sad I know

i’ve found something interesting about the website. myearthdream is changed (along with website today) to earthdreams. but earthdreams.com is already taken (by some healers..)
but earthdreams.info (where no site shows now) is booked by the john brown group, who made the honda earth-concept i think.

The new Honda livery works for me when it’s stationary and at a decent size (like the stripes down the monocoque, by the way), but the thumbnail makes it look like a child has thrown some play dough at it. I’m not convinced it’ll work very well when moving, either (the paint scheme, that is)…
30th January 2008, 18:52
As I have said before they should paint it brown as will all know its going to be a pile of ****. I wish the Japs would leave F1 onlone they make good engines but have not got a clue on how to run or produce a decent F1 car. Never going to see,a Jap team win a constructors tile

We will have a better understanding of the RA108 performance at this weeks Barcelona test.
Hopefully it will not be at the bottom of the time sheets.

Sorry Peter: Barrichello, next to last; Wurz, last!

Pink Peril likes the Force India car and this may prove colour has something to do with performance,

Looks like they let a school design it
