Romain Grosjean wins GP2 Asia title

Romain Grosjean didn’t finish the GP2 Asia race at Bahrain this morning but by setting fastest lap he did enough to guarantee the title.

From eighth on the grid Grosjean was in the lead by the end of the first lap and streaking away. But brake failure ended his hopes of victory in the second half of the race.

However with title rival Bruno Senna failing to start and Vitaly Petrov managing only third, Grosjean had done enough to take the inaugural GP2 Asia title – with the double-header round at Dubai still to go.

Kamui Kobayashi won – his second consecutive victory in a GP2 Asia sprint race – from Sebastien Buemi and Petrov.
