Could Singapore’s F1 track rival Monaco’s as the most photogenic race track in Formula 1?

Here’s a collection of 38 high-res photographs from today’s practice sessions showing the cars flying past some of Singapore’s spectacular scenery at night:

  1. Great pictures Keith, no Mclaren dough :(

  2. Superb. The lights really make the cars pop out. They make perfect wallpaper for the computer too!

  3. Beautiful pics.

Now I know why Massa fears the kerbs…..

  4. I was looking to the iTV pictures and any car is so beautiful than a Mclaren at night.

  5. @Becken

I think the Red Bull & STR look great in these pictures and have got to be a contender.

Although nothing does it for me the way the Ferrari’s look, that picture of both of them above is stunning.

I may be a little biased though (Sorry).

    Nice pictures Keith, thanks again.

  6. Thanks for posting the pictures. Considering the lighting, they’re really very good ones. However, they’re proof that the `visual experience’ for spectators, and video and film viewers is of horrendously lower quality than would be the case with a day race. It’s also eveident from the photos that the lighting level is very inconsistent—another (predictable) failure of night racing. What’s the `visual experience’ going to be like if it rains? Don’t make me laugh!

Oh yes, just think of all the otherwise unnecessary `carbon footprint’ the lights are creating. Way to go, `Green Bernie’!

  7. Bene,

More biased than me impossible, mate. ;)

Agree about RBR, fantastic… I love the picture of Webber´s leaving his crashed car. There’s too much noise on it and an interesting visual mess.

About McLaren, I think that the “silver” element makes it more beautiful than any other car. It never was so “Silver Arrows” than at night…

  8. @William Wilgus

What’s your point? We shouldn’t have night races because pictures have noise??? IMO it looks beautiful ;)

  9. Good call on the Webber pic Becken.

I’ve got to say I’m loving the sparkle from the lights shining of the cars.

I’ll give it to you, the McLarens do look good, shame they’re not built of metal anymore as the old school Merc’s were stunning – imagine those under the floodlights !

  10. Marko – Sorry I don’t know what happened there, the McLaren pics got missed out somehow. Anyway, they’re in their now.

  11. Great feature mate, pictures like these are always appreciated, the track looks spectacular doesn’t it?

  12. all the pics gr8 , but the beat pic is the McLaren but not enough resolution :((((

  13. really nice pictures…will be the most exciting race of the season for sure…

  14. Don’t the cars look glorious in the night lights? Great Photos Keith!

  15. Photos are quite nice and, perhaps this race will be a visual spectacle after all (even if the racing isn’t any good. We’ll see.)

  16. Great photos Keith.
Those Ferraris do look fantastic! All the cars look good but the way they reflected the light in practice…!

    @chunter
It will be a visual spectacle if Trulli continues to drive the wrong way around the track!

No, not because the pictures have noise—or more to photographic terminology, are `grainy’ (which if failed to note). Regardless of whether you’re watching in person or via TV, you’re not going to be able to see anywhere near as much detail as you would have if the race were being held in the daytime. Again in photographic terminology, they’re `low definition’—that’s why they’re `so dramatic’.

If it rains, you won’t be able to see much at all.

  18. correction to my #17: change “which if failed to note” to `I failed to note’. Sorry ’bout that!

  19. Milos at F1 Wolf is at the track and has taken some pics of his own, check them out here.

  20. There’s more pix on the ITV site, but I think they are at a different race as it says ‘Sinagore practice shots’ !

  21. @William Wilgus

I think we see more details like exhaust flames and sparks below cars, drivers eyes( :) ) etc. We see things that we normally don’t see at other races and that’s why it’s special :)

@Keith Thanks for Mc pics :D

  22. Felipe Massa, Ferrari (1st, Q3 – 1m 44.801s
