Who’s going to win the first ever Singapore Grand Prix? Several F1 drivers can lay claim to being particularly good on street tracks, including Lewis Hamilton and Robert Kubica. But the warmer temperatures are expected to favour Ferrari.
Read my podium prediction and make yours below.
In the run-up to the Singapore Grand Prix there was a lot of talk about the race being wet, and how that might play into the hands of McLaren and Lewis Hamilton.
However the local climate seems to be seeing most of its rain in the morning, with drier afternoons and evenings, so a dry race is quite likely.
With Bridgestone bringing the soft and super soft tyres, which Ferrari has made better use of so far this year, I think Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen will have the upper hand this weekend.
So I’m going to put my money on Massa leading the way, with Hamilton chasing and Robert Kubica stil in the hunt:
1. Felipe Massa
2. Lewis Hamilton
3. Robert Kubica
What’s your predictions for the Singapore Grand Prix? Make your podium prediction below.
Sebastian Vettel’s maiden win in Italy caught us all out – no-one predicted the Toro Rosso drivers scoring his first win.

pure guess, but i think massa really see this weekend as a turning point in the championship and be going all out.
alonso must be about ready to kick someone if he doesn’t get a podium, and if he can get hamilton behind him in quali (which i think could be the surprise of the weekend) then he’s got the brains to keep him behind for the race.

Also, the race seems incredibly long. Lap times are similar to Spa 1:45s, 1:47s; but the track almost 2.5kms shorter; and hence we have 61 laps ! ! ! That comes to about 6300 seconds for entire race. about 1hr 45 min!!!
If it rains, I think surely, the 2 hour limit will be reached.

The prediction of my crystal ball is: Alonso (really light) gets the pole position, followed by Massa and Hamilton (all of them in less than 0.1s), but in the race can’t hold the other two after the first round of stops. However, is fast enough to come out ahead of Kimi (4th) and get his dreamed podium… So, it would be:
Massa
Hamilton
Alonso
The ball also predicts that Massa an Hamilton will be separated by less than 2s all the race, without changing positions but showing some amazing drives.
Disclaimer: this crystal ball has made wrong predictions all the year, so don’t run to the bookmaker…

I’m anticipating a better than average run for Sutil and some sort of Melbourne-esque performance from Massa. The man is not a terribly precise driver and I think the character of the circuit is not suited to his strengths.
In case you’re wondering his strengths are driving for a team with a terribly fast car and driving said car on Tilke autodromes.

Even thought it’s hot I’m sure it will be muggy due to the earlier rainfall and I feel that will fall into the hands of Hamilton.
Lewis to take the win in front of Massa and Kovaleinen.

I repeat what I said on another post & thread earlier this week: if Kimi is allowed to race, he will win it. If he is not, Massa will. The Unified Temperature/Tire Theory will hold true once again: soft tires & > 27 C = Ferrari win … barring rain and a safety car, of course.

We know Massa isn’t the best at street tracks, and I can just see him comitting one of those major errors here that will take him out of the race. Kimi will get tripped up a bit, and perhaps this is where Alonso finally gets back to form.

This track looks tremendously challenging and seems to require some improvisation. It will favor the best manipulative drivers. This means Hamilton, Raikkonen, and Kubica. Someone like Massa, who is a very technical driver, won’t be well suited. (Nevermind his tendency to be quite harsh on the turn-in and rely on reaction to get him through.)
