Singapore Grand Prix predictions

Felipe Massa is my pick to win the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix

Who’s going to win the first ever Singapore Grand Prix? Several F1 drivers can lay claim to being particularly good on street tracks, including Lewis Hamilton and Robert Kubica. But the warmer temperatures are expected to favour Ferrari.

Read my podium prediction and make yours below.

In the run-up to the Singapore Grand Prix there was a lot of talk about the race being wet, and how that might play into the hands of McLaren and Lewis Hamilton.

However the local climate seems to be seeing most of its rain in the morning, with drier afternoons and evenings, so a dry race is quite likely.

With Bridgestone bringing the soft and super soft tyres, which Ferrari has made better use of so far this year, I think Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen will have the upper hand this weekend.

So I’m going to put my money on Massa leading the way, with Hamilton chasing and Robert Kubica stil in the hunt:

1. Felipe Massa
2. Lewis Hamilton
3. Robert Kubica

What’s your predictions for the Singapore Grand Prix? Make your podium prediction below.

Sebastian Vettel’s maiden win in Italy caught us all out – no-one predicted the Toro Rosso drivers scoring his first win.

  1. I’m going to go slightly wackier and say:

    1. Massa
    2. Alonso
    3. Kubica

  2. 1. Massa
    2. Raikkonen
    3. Hamilton
    4. Alonso
    5. Kubica
    6. Heidfeld
    7. Rosberg
    8. Piquet

  3. I am going for:

    1.Hamilton
    2.Vettel
    3.Kubica

  4. 1.massa
    2.Kimi
    3.Kubica

    F1 gods willing

  5. Hamilton
    Kubica
    Massa

  6. Predicting a dry race, I go for:

    1- Massa
    2- Hamilton
    3- Raikkonen

If it rains though, Hamilton should win it.

  7. hmmm…

    1.massa
    2.alonso
    3.hamilton

pure guess, but i think massa really see this weekend as a turning point in the championship and be going all out.

alonso must be about ready to kick someone if he doesn’t get a podium, and if he can get hamilton behind him in quali (which i think could be the surprise of the weekend) then he’s got the brains to keep him behind for the race.

  8. if it’s dry

    1.Massa
    2.Kubica
    3.Alonso

    it it’s wet

    1.Alonso
    2.Hamilton
    3.Kubica

  9. Maybe

  13. I´m going for the surprise.

    Alonso
    kovalainen
    Kubica

  14. 1. MAS
    2. HAM
    3. KUB
    4. RAI
    5. ALO
    6. KOV

  15. 1.massa
    2.hamilton
    3.kubika

  16. 1st
    Hamilton

    2nd
    Massa* Delete if Wet

    3rd
    Alonso

  17. 1] Raikkonen
    2] Alonso
    3] Kubica

Hamilton and Massa run out of fuel on the last lap with 3 corners to go, Kimi goes on the win the championship in the final round by 1 point :)

  18. My heart says
    1) RAI
    2) VET
    3) KUB

    My common sence says:
    1) HAM
    2) MAS
    3) ALO

  19. 1.Hamilton
    2.Massa
    3.Kubica

  20. HAM
    KOV
    BUT

  21. should be a largely boring race..
Raikkonen will wake up in the last few laps, set the fastest lap, that will be the most exciting part; since all Kimi fans will start jumping: Kimi’s back, Kimi’s back.. [:P]

  22. Sumedh: true!

  23. @Sumedh, it’ll be interesting to see where Kimi ends up in quali… if as I suspect he doesn’t do that well, I don’t think we’ll see him in the top 3.

If Massa or Hamilton win, Kimi’s out of the hunt isn’t he?

  24. Hamilton
    Massa
    Kubica

    In wet

    Kubica
    Alonso
    Heidefeld

  25. Also, the race seems incredibly long. Lap times are similar to Spa 1:45s, 1:47s; but the track almost 2.5kms shorter; and hence we have 61 laps ! ! ! That comes to about 6300 seconds for entire race. about 1hr 45 min!!!

If it rains, I think surely, the 2 hour limit will be reached.

  26. I really cant see Felipe winning this race.

The mix of a bumping track, low temperatures of the track will give Lewis the edge here.

    1)Lewis
    2)Heikki
    3)Massa

  27. Singapore Prediction:

    1ST Lewis H (Mclaren)
    2ND Felipe M (Ferrari)
    3RD Nick H (BMW)

Coutard, Piquet, Alonso, Button, Heikki, Raikkonen DNF

  28. 1) Massa
    2) Hamilton
    3) Alonso

I can see it being another Valencia with a repeated lack-lustre performance from Raik.

  29. 1-lewis
    2-massa
    3-kimi

  30. HAM
    MAS
    RAI

  31. Massa gets too close to the tortoises and wrecks the bottom, Ham tries the “I cut the corner and got no advantage” trick and beaches it on the tortoises. As it’s a night race, Kimi is awake throughout :P and grabs a famous win, Kubica and Alonso dice hard for 2nd place and Alonso outwits Kubica. So:

    1. Kimi
    2. Alonso
    3. Kubica

    :D

  32. Dry:

    1Massa
    2Hamilton
    3Alonso

    Wet:

    1Alonso
    2Hamilton
    3Kubica

  33. 1. Hamilton
    2. Massa
    3. Alonso

  34. 1.kimi
    2.alonso
    3.massa

  35. 1.HAMILTON
    2.RAIKONEN
    3.KUBICA

  36. Dry

    1. Massa
    2. Alonso
    3. Hamilton

    Wet

    1. Hamilton
    2. Kubica
    3. Heidfeld

  37. 1. Massa
    2. Raikkonen
    3. Alonso

  38. 1)Kubica
    2)Hamilton
    3)Rosberg/Alonso
    and five/six dnf.

  39. I’m surprised to see so many people including Alonso in their podium’s lists.

    Dry (and procesional race):

    1- HAM
    2-MAS
    3-KUB

If Crazy race (HAM/MAS crash, rain, DNFs), maybe we will see ALO on the podium.

Anyhow, I always fail with my predictions…

  40. One is for sure Williams is having the high ground over Renault ,Toyota, Red Bull and Torro Roso. Both finish struggled in practice so i would say :

    P1 Lewis
    P2 Nico
    P3 Nando

Massa was having hard time with understeering in at least 2 turns so a a lot of lost time in the race

  41. Massa
    Hamilton
    Heiki

  42. Felipe Massa
    Kimi Raikkonen
    Lewis Hamilton
    Heikki Kovalainen
    Nico Rosberg
    Robert Kubica
    Fernando Alonso
    Nick Heidfeld

  43. The prediction of my crystal ball is: Alonso (really light) gets the pole position, followed by Massa and Hamilton (all of them in less than 0.1s), but in the race can’t hold the other two after the first round of stops. However, is fast enough to come out ahead of Kimi (4th) and get his dreamed podium… So, it would be:

    Massa
    Hamilton
    Alonso

The ball also predicts that Massa an Hamilton will be separated by less than 2s all the race, without changing positions but showing some amazing drives.

Disclaimer: this crystal ball has made wrong predictions all the year, so don’t run to the bookmaker…

  44. 01. HAM
    02. MAS
    03. ALO

  45. 1. Robert Kubica
    2. Felipe Massa
    3. Lewis Hamilton

  46. I think Hamilton will try too hard and get it all wrong just like towards the end of last season. He will probably stay out on worn tyres for too long and screw it all up. I seriously hope this doesn’t happen as I am a big fan and really want to see him take the title this year but…….

    1. MAS
    2. KOV
    3. ALO

  47. We are way overdue for a turn 1 pile up, sorry to say.
Hamilton and Massa pit on lap one for front wings and inflated tires, neither scores.

    Order is:
    ALO
    KOV
    KUB

  48. 1.RAI
    2.HAM
    3.one of the BMWs

    MASSA will have DNF

  49. I really don’t like going out on a limb like this, but I predict that whoever finishes first will win—maybe.
    ;^)~

  50. Dry Race
    1. Raikkonen
    2. Hamilton
    3. Kubica

    Wet Race
    1. Kubica
    2. Vettel
    3. Bourdais

  51. 1. Hamilton
    2. Button
    3. Massa

  52. Raikkonen
    Hamilton
    Massa

    …no doubt…

  53. 1. Hamilton
    2. Vettel
    3. Massa

  54. My heart and my head agree, so here we go!!!

    1. Massa
    2. Alonso
    3. Hamilton

  55. Dry:
    1. HAM
    2. RAI
    3. MAS

    Wet:
    1. HAM
    2. ALO
    3. RAI

Though really I suspect the combination of this track and rain will produce a ton of DNFs and some serious safety car issues.

    Hamilton
    Massa
    Alonso

Great comment from cyanide, delete ir if wet for Massa, here we feel exactly the same he is the first brazilian that don’t get along with wet tracks…

  57. I think Raik is due a good race, he was fastest in FP1 until sector 3 whe traffic hit and went down wrong way in set up in FP2..also temp higher + bridgestone tyres more suitable to Ferarri – will he let Massa thru? methinks not

    Raik
    Mass
    Ham
    Alon

  58. first ever night gp?? that’s easy
    1-kimi
    2-raikonnen
    3- iceman on the rocks

  59. Okay, barring any FIA meddling…

    1. Hamilton
    2. Kubica (aka Bobby K)
    3. Alonso

I’m anticipating a better than average run for Sutil and some sort of Melbourne-esque performance from Massa. The man is not a terribly precise driver and I think the character of the circuit is not suited to his strengths.

In case you’re wondering his strengths are driving for a team with a terribly fast car and driving said car on Tilke autodromes.

  60. Massa
    Bob
    Lewis

  61. 1. HAM
    2. KOV
    3. MAS

  62. Alonso
    Kimi
    Kubica

  63. 1. Alo
    2. Rai
    3. Kub

Massa + Ham = DNF with near fatal incident between themselves.
This would be an ideal progress towards final races of the season.
Hmmph … I wish Massa has the “balls” to fight Ham. It seems the racers from Schumacher era lacks fighting skills.

  64. Alonso
    Massa
    Kimi

  65. Even thought it’s hot I’m sure it will be muggy due to the earlier rainfall and I feel that will fall into the hands of Hamilton.

Lewis to take the win in front of Massa and Kovaleinen.

Would also be good to keep an idea on Vettel, Bourdais, Kubica and Alonso in the race.

Kimi will park his Ferrari into a wall for sure.

  66. If this happens…I’ll give you the winning lotto numbers

    1. Kimi
    2. Hamilton
    3. Massa
    4. Kubi
    5. Kovi

I really don’t like going out on a limb like this, but I predict that whoever finishes first will win—maybe.
    ;^)~

Don’t be so sure William, just remember Spa…

  68. 1. Robert Kubica
    2. Felipe Massa
    3. Lewis Hamilton

  69. I repeat what I said on another post & thread earlier this week: if Kimi is allowed to race, he will win it. If he is not, Massa will. The Unified Temperature/Tire Theory will hold true once again: soft tires & > 27 C = Ferrari win … barring rain and a safety car, of course.

  70. 1. KIMI
    2. ALO
    3. KOVI

**MAS and HAM will have DNF’s to make race to title interesting!! ;)

  71. 1. Hamilton
    2. Kubica
    3. Alonso

We know Massa isn’t the best at street tracks, and I can just see him comitting one of those major errors here that will take him out of the race. Kimi will get tripped up a bit, and perhaps this is where Alonso finally gets back to form.

Eddie, for as much as I would love to see Williams in the mix, I just don’t think they’ll have the race pace to keep up- here’s to hoping for a suprise though.

  72. I think Singapore F1 GP will be a miracle.Here is my predictions……

    1.F.Massa
    2.R.Kubica
    3.L.Hamilton
    4.J.Trulli
    5.K.Raikkonen
    6.S.Vettel
    7.F.Alonso
    8.T.Glock

  73. 1. Hamilton
    2. Raikkonen
    3. Kubica

This track looks tremendously challenging and seems to require some improvisation. It will favor the best manipulative drivers. This means Hamilton, Raikkonen, and Kubica. Someone like Massa, who is a very technical driver, won’t be well suited. (Nevermind his tendency to be quite harsh on the turn-in and rely on reaction to get him through.)

  74. 1. Hamilton
    2. Massa
    3. Kimi
    4. Sutil

  75. wet or dry:

    1. Kubica
    2. Raikkonen
    3. Alonso

    Hamilton out
    Massa out

  76. 1. Rosberg
    2. Alonso
    3. Heidfeld

The red and silver cars will all take each other out. Nico will time the safety car periods to perfection (very important when the marshals are as slow these). Fernando would have won if only the team had listened to him (as usual). Nick drives his usual steady race to pick up yet another podium. Wasn’t too hard to predict this week really :)

  77. 1. Kimi
    2. Massa
    3. Alonso

  78. Hard to say who will win but with a night race and the sun not beating down on the tires the temperatures will be somewhat cooler favoring Mclaren and Hamilton seems to have been handling the turns a bit better than both Ferraris in practice session

    1. Hamilton
    2. Massa
    3. Raikkonen

  79. 1-Lewis
    2 Heikki
    3 Massa

  80. my picks are

    1. hamilton
    2. massa
    3. rosberg

  81. 1 – Massa
    2 – Raikkonen
    3 – Alonso

  82. Lewis
    Felipe
    Kubica
    Kimi
    Heidfeld
    Heiki
    Vettel
    Webber

  83. RAI will DNF for sure.

  84. 1. HAM
    2. KOV
    3. ALO

  85. 1. Hamilton
    2. Kubica
    3. Raikkonen

  86. like all other, my predictions for wet

    1. Kazuki Nakajima
    2. Toranosuke Takagi (Since people are also putting Alonso)
    3. M. Bison (Since people are also putting Alonso)

  87. @ Eddie Irvine:

Nobody predicted it perfectly, but you are damn close!
