Have Your Ashes Scattered at the Catalunya GP

Looking for a novel way to dispel of yourself after the inevitable happens? Why not have your ashes scattered at the Circuit de Catalunya?

It doesn't appeal to me, besides, we don't want the track getting dusty off-line.

On E.J. Viso and Robert Doornbos

"E.J. Viso sent me an e-mail this morning from Europe to say he has his program secured with HVM Racing for 2009. He also said he expects to have Robert Doornbos as his team mate, giving team owner Keith Wiggins a two-car team."

Mark Hughes on Webber’s ’09 challenges

"Webber has seen off every team-mate he’s ever been paired with in seven years of F1. Before you say ‘hang-on, what about Nick Heidfeld?’ Well, Nick out-scored Mark at Williams in 2005, but he was an average of over half a second behind in qualifying and had Webber’s traditional ill luck not struck several times in the races, he’d have out-scored Heidfeld too. By the end of that year, no-one within Williams believed that Heidfeld was as intrinsically quick as Webber. He plain wasn’t."

Di Resta happy to start in midfield

Paul di Resta: "What's a bad team to drive for?. The driver has to make the best of what he has. You've got to be beating your team-mate on a regular basis, then you can make a case for the car holding you back. It's a difficult one, but I'm up for the challenge if that occurs."

Piscopo enjoys Formula One debut

Edoardo Piscopo: "The car is incredible, so well-balanced and seems even easier than an A1GP car." Is this what we should expect a rookie's first impression of an F1 car to be – that it's easy to drive? Is he just trying to make himself look good or are F1 cars a bit too forgiving?

Monteiro buys GP2 team

"Former F1 driver Tiago Monteiro's company has bought the BCN Competicion GP2 team."

The Beeb’s new team

"There have long been whispers that Martin Brundle had become disillusioned with all the politics and shenanigans that infest the modern F1 paddock. Maybe he had, and certainly his relationship with the FIA has, on occasion, became a little frosty. But good sense has prevailed and the man who stepped from the cockpit into the commentary box will continue to entertain us with his no-nonsense approach to the business of motor racing on TV. Let’s hope he starts the new season in the pithiest possible form with all the humour, honesty and expertise that we know he can throw at us on a Sunday afternoon."

Will they raise their game, finally?

"Other than the fact that they at least show the F1 over here there is not much to like about ESPN Star Sports coverage of Formula One, at least not yet."

Bahrain and Abu Dhabi to work together

"The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM) have reached an agreement to work together."

  1. Wow, having my ashes scattered at the most mediocre circuit on the calendar. Sounds really average!

Nice idea but Barcelona needs to become a cool circuit before the idea of ashes scattering will appeal.

  2. Spa mabey, but Catalunya! One of the top three worst F1 tracks in recent times.

Mabey scatter the ashes of a relative you didn’t like there!

  3. Are they just too cheap to buy some chippings for gravel traps?

  4. Are they just too cheap to buy some chippings for gravel traps?

    Nice!!!!

  5. Bahrain and Abu Dhabi to work together:

Maybe this is the cue for the British and French to work together to keep F1 in the heart of Motorsport? And maybe the Americans and Canadians to work together to make a home for F1 in North America?

Slightly off topic – the first(1908 or thereabouts) ‘British’ GP was actually held in what is now the Irish Republic, on a road circuit – how about the BRDC coming to an agreement with the Irish authorities for a new version in the 21st Century? It would probably be easier than defacing Donington or turning Silverstone into a theme park…..
