b. ten points for naming one of the top three in their correct position, 25 for naming two of the top three and 50 for naming the whole top three correctly

  1. Ooh! This is going to be a toughie. I guess I’ll wait for saloolas & dougie to make theirs ;)

    1. LOL, You know what I never thought of that!, but i’m not the villain type.

Can I make a suggestion Keith and Ian?, since MP4 but forward such a good comment with regards to the F1Fanatic championship, could you hide the predictions until the start of Quali?.

Since if I start beating Dougie and Saloolas I then have the ability to see their predictions and then make my predictions exactly like theirs?, since doing so would assure me to stay ahead of them.

      1. That’s exactly what I’ll do to stay in front of you :)

        1. I do agree that we shouldn’t see each other’s predictions though.

      2. Mike "the bike" Schumacher
        25th September 2009, 22:27

ya but if ye are all wrong someone else might beat ye

  2. piece of cake :P

  3. Can you start predictions any time? I know I have no hope of winning but it seems fun :)

    1. Can you start predictions any time? I know I have no hope of winning but it seems fun :)

Haven’t you started yet?? There are I think 250+ points up for grabs & the leader saloolas & dougie are on 205 I think. So mathematically you’ve still got a chance.

      1. Like Mathematically Vettel and Webber have every chance to win this years WDC

        1. Mathematically, Vettel and Webber have every chance to win the F1 Fanatic predictions championship.

    2. By all means, join in!

    3. join in Steph, its great fun, adds another dimension to the race, well for me it does.

as an example, Sutil is about to get pole at Monza, I start cheering since I love Sutil… then I stop and think “wait, he’s not on my prediction!, stop stop!”

    4. If you want to win, this is the last race to start with. With 3 races to go it will only be 180 more points available, which means that people who haven’t predicted yet can’t win.

  4. thanks mp4 oo so I can start then, brilliant. I’ve been making up for not predicting on here by putting on bets…it wasn’t a good plan :P

  5. Keith, can you do me a favour? I’m the “The_Philosopher” guy on the championship table, but it’s a rubbish nickname I used to use when I was a kid in english-language forums, so can you please chance it to my name, Guilherme Teixeira?

I’ll enter my prediction as Guilherme Teixeira, so please, would you change it? =)

    1. I think the Philosopher is a rather good avatar name.

Stick to it, but I understand why you would want to change it to Guilherme Teixeira, since its a more “unique” name to have.

  6. Hey Steph, our predicions got messed up because we sent it at the same second! =O
(at least it’s messed up on my screen)

    So here’s my prediction:

    Barrichello
    Barrichello
    Button
Raikkonen (just to keep the streak of podiums \o/)

    1. Actually I’d rather people stuck to the names they were using to begin with. It takes a bit of time to change them all round and that means I have less time to get other stuff done on the site. But as you’ve already used a different name I haven’t really got a choice. Can everyone else please stick to their original names at least until the end of the season?

Not sure why the table has corrupted there but I’ll get it sorted.

      1. Hey Keith, i wonder if you could help. Ive been using the name Robert for the predictions since it began but someone has in this race has used the same name. Is there anything that could be done? Thanks.

        1. This is a problem we haven’t got a very good solution for at the moment. I’ve changed the prediction that was made for this round only from ‘Robert’ to ‘Robert2’ so you should be free to use your name. In future we need to find a way of tying usernames to email addresses.

  7. I wonder if alonso will go on a 14 lap strategy….
    grosjean is also training it!

    1. You are right. Looks like last year repeat :)

  8. sorry guilherme :(

    1. @Steph: don’t worry about it. Think about it, I’ve messed up your prediction too, so we are even xD And this it’s good to find these glitches sooner than later.

@Keith: Sorry man, should’ve waited for your reply =\ Didn’t mean to take your time with this. Really sorry =(

      1. No problem, don’t worry, I just don’t want everyone doing it!

  9. It would be remarcable if Alonso won on a 14 lap strategy and Ferrari messed up in the pits !

  10. Keith my predictions are half missing
    They were
    Hamilton
    Barrichello
    Hamilton
    Button
I think…lol today is just one of those days :P

    1. What an inauspicious start Steph! But you never know, you might just walk away with 60 points.

    2. Opps – Minor error in the display routine in the code. I don’t have access to the database but it looks like the data is stored OK.

Keith emailed me and I’ve emailed Keith back with a fix so hopefully it should be OK later. Apologies

      1. That should be it fixed now, thanks Ian.

  11. I know mp4 first time and I cause havoc and nearly ruin someone elses predictions!
Thanks Keith, and sorry for inadvertently provoking a mess :S

  12. @steph90: Amazing “luck” :p It could be for good, you never know ;)

@Keith: Hey, you copied my prediction. Now I will never surpass you

  13. hope so unicornf1 :)

  14. Keith,

Could you please guys add a ranking in the results along with the points scored. That gives a fair indication of the position everybody is in.

By the way, I am in mid table :D

    1. I prefer it without the ranking, it streamlines the table and makes it look alot cleaner… like a an Apple Mac product….

OH GOD CHANGE IT NOW! i want the ranking back!

  15. three cheers for Ian Haycox!, what a marvelous little plug in, this week my prediction went without a hitch but I think I was one of the first to predict so no doubling on the database.

Its a wonderful thing when the community of a website helps out the website founder in such a way, it actually makes me warm and fuzzy inside knowing my compatriots on this site like it as much as me yet have the ability to help Keith out.

Unless Ian is charging Keith, in which case, boo! BOOO!! your a nasty man! :D

    1. :-) It’s all Open Source and free. Just for that I’m going to have to out-predict you :-)

      1. boo boo! no your a nasty man!. :D

Have you seen my comemnt up top in reply to MP4, its a valid point I feel with regards to the closing stages of this league we have.

        1. There is already an option in the plugin to prevent showing predictions until after you have predicted.

If other predictors and Keith agree then it could be turned on/off. Personally I vote without looking first otherwise it might influence my decision then I’d be really annoyed if my first choice was better.

It’s a bit like looking at your mates lottery numbers and missing out on the jackpot :-)

    2. Its a wonderful thing when the community of a website helps out the website founder in such a way, it actually makes me warm and fuzzy inside knowing my compatriots on this site like it as much as me yet have the ability to help Keith out.

      Me too!

In fact, I’ve got a few ideas for other projects like this so if anyone wants to help out, please say so!

  16. Alonso will talk on the circuit while people keep bashing him without having the slightest idea.

  17. This was a tough one!

I will miss quali tomorrow because I’m off to Road Atlanta for Petit LeMans……yaaaa!!!!Even though it will probaly rain all day…..boooo!!!!

I think Vettel will make pole but,get beaten by the Brawns on srategy.Hamilton on podium too.

  18. I think Button is in for a change of luck at the expense of Rubens. Things are just going to well for Rubens…(It’s just not his style something has to go wrong)
I’m giving Ham and Kimi the following spots on the podium because, well….I’m predicting.

  19. Star sports is not showing LIVE singapore GP qualifying:(
    again

    1. That is cuz of some dumbo cricket match between India & pakistan. I personally think cricket & soccer matches must be banned during race week ends.

  20. In fact, I’ve got a few ideas for other projects like this so if anyone wants to help out, please say so!

If can help in anyway Keith I will, I’m sure many of us would love to help out as it is a truly great site you have created.

  21. lets hope button doesnt get pole and then win, f1 needs a show this weekend not just a brawn strategy show!

PLEASE, not another button driving off into the distance show

  22. Agreed Harv’s

  23. Keith I keep getting the following error when trying to enter: “Your entry could not be saved to the database.
Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails”

Can I possibly enter the old way?

    Pete Walker
    Barrichello
    Barrichello
    Button
    Hamilton

    Thanks :)

    1. Yep Im gettign the error too – it wont let us pick a race.

      for me:

      mmck

      Barrichello

      Barrichello
      Hamilton
      Button

  24. Im confused – BBC one tv guide shows “live” qualifying at 2:00 whereas F1 site says qualifying starts at 12:00 – which is correct?

    1. Qualifying starts at 4 p.m. at our time (that’s 3 pm UK I think). It starts in 3 hours and 38 minutes.

      1. Thanks!

yep 3 hours and 38 minutes makes it 3:00… which would make sense if the tv program starts at 2:00.

http://www.formula1.com/ – strange it saying only 34 mins to qualifying :S

        1. It says 34 minutes till Free practice 3 :)

          1. Haha how did I miss that, ah I just looked at the big clock…

I guess that’s what happens on a Saturday morning when you check the f1 site whilst still in bed – To see if its worth getting up, or whether just to lay there and let the weekend begin :)

  25. For some reason the clock on the predictions stopped one hour early. I don’t know why that happened but I’ve extended it by a further hour and now it’s working again. You should be able to enter your predictions once more. Sorry about that.

  26. damn, looks like Bar is going to take the pentaly for changing gearbox

  27. Rubens
    Fernando
    Jensen

  28. Keith, I am getting an error with the form.

Can I just do them here instead?

    Gazzap
    Hamilton
    Barichello
    Button
    Hamilton

    Thanks

  29. Did you say Bar took a penalty? ah.
not sure if I can change to

    gazzap
    Hamilton
    Button
    Hamilton
    Vettel

    If not no worries. cheers

  30. Barrichello hasn’t changed his race gearbox and predictions can’t be made after the start of FP3.

  31. Bah! I am too late! Again!
I think the rule that says predictions have to be made before P3 is lame, because usually (well, this season anyway) you can’t make any reasonable predictions based on the result of P3…

  32. does that mean my predictions did not go through? If so I am very disappointed because I tried to submit my predictions twice on Friday afternoon and the form did not work – it kept giving me an error so I thought I would try on saturday morning.
