    1. Good to see not everybody has lost their humor in F1… well, some teams did (and that’s coming from a German :P )

    2. why didn’t most teams cover as much mileage as Ferrari?

      1. not every team is present from the very first test, ferrari is. many teams had technical problems or were left without spare parts for a whole day, and finally, in the lately rainy conditions you can’t cover that many kilometers as you can in dry.

      2. because some teams didn’t feel the need to.

        1. Maybe you´re right. Schumacher gave us some clue about the way Ferrari operates regard testing mileage:

          I don’t think it is necessary to do as we [Ferrari] did in 2005, almost 100,000km of testing, which by the way didn’t bring us almost anything.

          Here I don’t know how many we have done, five maybe 10,000km, we have achieved much more.

    4. The rumor is RedBull, and bit less, Mclaren heat up the tires faster, getting better one-two lap quali stints, while Ferrari, Sauber and Mercedes have much better tire economy.

        viz: F60 Q1 Spanish GP 2009 vs F10 fastest time on the same circuit…. i’d like to see how have teams done compared to their 2009 cars….

      So it’s McLaren or Red Bull on pole position and Ferrari, Sauber or Mercedes for the victory? ;-)

      Pitstop tactics like Bahrain 2006, that was really close although Massa almost rammed Alonso.

    8. Still a little concerned about Jenson’s gap to Lewis, but weather has been variable and McLaren ran with an upgrade on the car with Lewis on the Sunday, so perhaps not such a great concern – until we see them ontrack in the same conditions, all is just speculation and not helpful.

      The top four teams seem to be pretty much what we expected I think, Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes. Sutil did a good job putting the FI up there amongst the top dogs. He rather shone last year too. Would be nice to see some silverware heading their way this year.

      Rubens will either be relishing the challenge that young Nico H will obviously be providing, or be down wondering whether he has once more found himself eclipsed in his seat by a faster racer. Early days, but will be an interesting one to watch. Rubens’ drive in 2011 may swing on this one’s outcome.

      Not expecting USF1 to show and with the light dimming on StefanF1’s chance of a last-minute license Lotus and Virgin will be enjoying their own private battle this season. Although this will prove a humourous aside, I hope their relative pace doesn’t impact the title chase, none the less, great to see the grid swelled.

      1. Don’t forget Campos, I think they’ll make it to Bahrain with Kolles in charge. And I won’t give up hope of Stefan GP making it just yet, I think they might end up doing a deal with USF1 for their entry.

      Don’t worry, the gap between them was much bigger at Jerez 2.

      Btw, I think we’ll have to watch Williams and Force India, not only ‘the big four’. I haven’t forgot Force India at Spa-Francorchamps 2009. And Williams has done alots of testing again and have a experienced driver together with a rookie and they’re at the top in the timesheet.

      Having said that, Sauber surprises me a little might be fighting for points this year. While Toro Rosso is abit behind if you’d ask me. Than the biggest (but slightly expected?) fall, Renault, the car looks like their 2009 R29 and that wasn’t a victorious car.

      1. Good synopsis. Hoping to see good pushing from Williams and FI this year. A lot has been written about the top four teams driver line-ups, but Barrichello and Hulk could prove to be an excellent pairing providing Rubens chin doesn’t drop.

        I still think Sutil is an underated driver, but with the team apparently pushing forward, maybe he is in the right seat.

        If things don’t pan out for Renault this year, would like to see Kubica in a more worthy drive soon. Suspect Liuzzi and Rubens rides might be in his sights before year-end.

        Ah but listen to me, gone all silly season before the first green light of the season.

        It’s gonna be a classic season. Some massive egos, in both team and driver line-up. Two weeks left – woohoo!

      Interesting comparison, despite the fact it doesnt provide a comprehensive way to compare the drivers as they were running on different days under different conditions (except for Webber and Vettel today though)and could have been implementing different test programmes.

      Webber was driving in the afternoon, that must clarify the difference. :D

      Seriously, I think Vettel and Webber could become a great fight, Mark will be a challenge for Vettel. Hopefully the same goes for McLaren, not sure if Hamilton is #1 over there. And of course, I really hope Rosberg will get a chance at Mercedes and doesn’t end up as the new Barrichello.

    14. 15,000 km is the maximum each team can test & they have done only half of that.
      If they wish can they test anymore before the start of the season?

      Really worried about Virgin & Lotus, I wonder whether they will come anywhere near to a point finish until many cars collapse in front of them.
