The track: Albert Park, Melbourne
There are no significant changes to the layout of the Albert Park circuit this year.
However a new ‘combination’ kerb has been installed at turn nine. This is the type of kerb seen at Monza and Singapore which are fairly flat where they meet the tarmac but higher on the inside to discourage corner-cutting.
This year the teams will have to use the soft and hard compound tyres. Last year they had super-soft and medium tyres.

The weather
It’s expected to be a warm weekend with temperatures around 25C but today temperatures peaked at over 30C. Saturday should be dry but there are forecasts for light rain late on Sunday which could fall during the race.

F1 fans at the 2010 Australian Grand Prix
Paul di Resta
Force India reserve driver Paul di Resta makes his first appearance at a race weekend. He will participate in practice one on Friday in place of Adrian Sutil.
Paul di Resta biography – He beat Sebastian Vettel in 2006 before going touring car racing.
Di Resta excited ahead of Force India debut – Di Resta says he won’t be going for glory runs in practice at Melbourne.
Last year
Australia was the curtain-raiser for the 2009 season. Jenson Button proved Brawn GP’s pre-season pace was real with a commanding win from pole position.
The race ended in drama as Sebastian Vettel and Robert Kubica collided while disputing second place and Lewis Hamilton was disqualified after lying over why he let Jarno Trulli pass him under the safety car:

Kubica and Vettel collide – Sebastian Vettel was handed a penalty following this late-race collision with Robert Kubica.
Lewis Hamilton excluded from Australian Grand Prix, Trulli third – Jarno Trulli was reinstated following his disqualification and Hamilton thrown out instead.

Hahahaha, hey Pope I LIVE on the BoM website. I started to check it a few years ago after being told by a friend and now I can’t go a day without checking to see what the weather is going to be.
Anybody at Practice 1 tomorrow, if you see a shortish guy with a tattoo on his head and burns all over his arms its me (I’m a chef). So say hi :)
