Belgian Grand Prix pit stops

Two of the quickest pit stops of the race helped Mark Webber claim secnd place in Spa.

He had the fastest pit stop of the race on lap 22. It might have allowed him to take second place of Robert Kubica but the Renault driver enjoyed the second-best stop of the race when he came in one lap later.

Webber eventually took the place in the pits when Kubica missed his pit box during his second stop on lap 35, knocking over several of his crew and losing time.

At the same time Webber made the seventh-quickest pit visit of the race despite the pit lane being wet at that time.

The FIA only lists the total time spent in pit lane for each car ?σΤιΌΤΗ£ it does not produce complete data on the stationary times for every pit stop. The times above therefore reflect the total time lost by each car during its pit stop, minus the typical pit lane time loss for this track. It shows not only how quickly the team performed the tyre change (typically around three seconds), but also how well the driver stopped on his mark and accelerated away again.

  1. Still irritating that the FIA doesn’t publish actual stopped times, when they’re clearly monitoring them as evidenced in the on screen graphics during the race. Webber’s winning pit stop was shown as 3.6 seconds, and Kubica’s was 3.7. Can’t remember any of the others.

    Its so frustrating that they record so much data from all the F1 races yet make none of it available. What do they do with it?

    1. I always hope it shows up as a feature on the season DVD, but it doesn’t usually seem to happen.

  3. great website who ever makes it but cant you just put the stop time and whole time spent in the pit lane its much easier to understand

    1. No that data isn’t available – as it says in the article.

  4. Interesting to see Mercedes have dropped back quite a bit with their pit stop times.
    It might have to do with the wet pitlane at the time of their stop, or maybe they put in place some extra checks and balances to prevent Rosberg leaving with only 3 wheels attached.
