Reserve drivers

The following changes to the usual driver line-up will be made for first practice only:

Romain Grosjean will drive for Renault in place of Vitaly Petrov.

Nico Hulkenberg will drive for Force India in place of Paul di Resta.

Jean-Eric Vergne will drive for Toro Rosso in place of Sebastien Buemi.

Luiz Razia will drive in place of Jarno Trulli at Lotus.

Jan Charouz will drive for HRT in place of Vitantonio Liuzzi.

Tyres

Pirelli will supply the soft (yellow colouring) and medium (white) tyres for this race.

However, the soft tyre will be the new, 2012-specification tyre which was tested in Abu Dhabi, and is expected to be up to half a second per lap faster.

Each driver will also have two sets of a new hard tyre to use in Friday practice only.

Stewards

Alexander Wurz will be the drivers’ advisor to the stewards at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The two-time winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours made 69 F1 race starts for Benetton, McLaren and Williams.

He joins FIA world council member Lars Osterlind and FIA circuits commission president Roger Peart on the panel.

The track

Interlagos, 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix

The Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace circuit – usually referred to by its former, shorter name of Interlagos – is the second-shortest track on the F1 calendar.

It has a reputation for producing exciting races and this year hosts the last race of the season for the first time since 2008.

Single DRS zone in Brazil and track changes for 2012 – FIA don’t want to make passing too easy on Sunday.

The weather

There’s a chance of rain during this weekend’s race.
