    1. Finally the record has been broken…with a stunning lap. It’s shame Nico could’t repeat his effort of Q2 but he still managed to make a good lap.

      1. He did it in style here. Season final, stunning lap. I think Mansell would approve!

Agree about Rosberg @eggry, and I would have loved it if Rubens had made it into Q3 for a final time.

    2. Absolutely amazing from Vettel. Congratulations to him.

Honourary mentions to Sutil and Senna, they both did really well. Well done t HRT as well.

    3. There was a great tribute on SPEED after qualifying to Rubens. It’s really pretty crappy of Williams to keep him in the dark right now. His Q2 lap was magnificent and I hope he goes on to have a great race tomorrow.

      1. If this is his last race, I think we’d all like to know! I want to see new blood in F1 but I’ll miss Ruben’s big, slightly mad smile. Really hope he does well tomorrow.

      2. Williams need to survive and do what’s best for the team at the moment, and that’s to wait for a while before deciding.

If Rubens wants to hang on that’s his choice. He should probably retire himself and announce it, but if he wishes to risk it then that’s up to him, not Williams.

        1. I think that’s fair enough @john-h

        2. @john-h in an interview with Italian journalists he said Williams need him for his experience. That’s true but I think not humble from him, it’s like he’s tried to persuade Williams to keep him because he wants to remain and now knowing the situation is far from clear he’s trying to desperately show his value. It’s clear he still wants F1, and I think he’s better than many other drivers.

          1. @Fixy It’s a shame because he obviously deperately wants to remain but I think many can’t understand why at his age – but fair enough I admire his passion!

From the team’s perspective (be that any F1 team) he’s definitely better than many other drivers at the moment (he panned Maldonado in qualy), but then again some of the younger drivers might be better F1 drivers in 2-3 years time if they are given the chance.

Just from gut feeling alone, in my opinion he should have retired and got the send off he derserves at his home grand prix.

    4. Lewis sure is his old, fast self. Almost even as quick as his team mate.

      1. hehe.

Well to be fair he is 13-6 up in qualifying on Button, even in his ‘shocking’ season and Button’s ‘wonderful’ one.

      2. That made me chuckle. But at least he’s still 13-6 up on his teammate, though LH has long ago been passed as the fastest driver over 1 lap.

    5. Fernando is the dark horse of the race.

Kudos to Vettel, we might be unto something special here…..
Good car or not, we dint envisage someone dominating modern F1 like this…..
for all its worth Congratulations Mr. Vettel

    7. I can see the fast starting Fernando causing problems for both Button and Hamilton. Its going to be a tricky start i think. Safety car is most likely to be deployed.

    8. I see the Ferrari’s being a supprise today if it rains. They’ve been too slow for a track which should suite them which could mean a wet set up or me being wrong and them just being slow. Alonso was quick around Abu Dhabi when slow the rest of the weekend so he could be a good supprise today. Vettel’s lap was just perfect and what a lap to break the record congratulations to him.

    9. Fixed red bull just want webber to come 2nd in championship, vettels car isn’t damaged
