Ten of the best pictures which tell the story of the 2015 Monaco Grand Prix weekend.

Max and Jos Verstappen

Max Verstappen and father Jos aboard an appropriately-named boat. The younger Verstappen grabbed attention twice during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend: by going second fastest in his first ever session on Monte-Carlo’s streets, and by crashing out of the race after colliding with Romain Grosjean.

Daniel Ricciardo

Rain fell during second practice, confining the drivers to the pits for much of the session. By the time they ventured out even Monaco’s iconic tunnel was well doused.

Romain Grosjean

Grosjean kicks up sparks on his approach to Sainte Devote.

Roberto Merhi

Roberto Merhi exits the tunnel. Monaco was the first time this year he’d finished in front of his team mate.

Daniil Kvyat

The Red Bull of Daniil Kvyat glistens in the Monaco sunshine.

Felipe Nasr

Over 600 marshals were appointed to ensure the safe running of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez

A strong performance by Sergio Perez saw him qualify and finish seventh, with only the faster cars of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull ahead of him.

Pastor Maldonado

For the first time this year Pastor Maldonado out-qualified his team mate, but a brake problem put him out early on. Verstappen, behind him, made contact with Maldonado’s Lotus before his even more spectacular collision with the team’s other car.

Sebastian Vettel

Ferrari hasn’t won at Monaco in 14 years, but Sebastian Vettel’s second place was warmly received.

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton

The circumstances in which Lewis Hamilton lost the win made for a slightly awkward podium ceremony but the two Mercedes drivers managed a courteous handshake.

  1. A good addition could have been the one time Lewis missed his braking the entire weekend and bumped into the position display board!

  2. Did they spray water in the tunnel for the second picture? I know back in 1984 I think they had a wet race and had to spend time wetting the tunnel section, but I thought that was a quirk of the time.

    1. Rain fell during second practice, confining the drivers to the pits for much of the session. By the time they ventured out even Monaco’s iconic tunnel was well doused.

  3. So, Verstappen developed a particular taste for the Lotus cars in Monaco :) First nibbling, then trying to take a big bite out of Grosjean’s car.

    1. LOL indeed!

  4. Rosberg’s still wearing his headset on the podium…
“OK Nico, remember to smile. Now shake hands. Good lad. Take your hand off his arm in 3, 2, 1…”

    1. Hahaha I noticed that at the time too.
      The Ricciardo shot is amazing.

    2. I foresee a Caption Competition winner ;)

  5. The second picture of Ricciardo…what a beaut! Like he’s exiting an iced tunnel!

Thanks to the photographer who was hanging all the way over the railing. You could see him standing there during practice :p
