  1. Well, that was an anticlimax…

    1. Pretty boring but as a Hamilton fan it’s easier to swallow.

  2. Raikkonen will launch ahead of Williams at the start as per usual. Vettel’s been getting better and better at the start as the season progressed, but last 2 races he was not having the best starts. Then again, Bottas is not a brilliant starter, so he might get him. Otw, they will get stuck down there with their nightmarish rivals who they cannot get ahead of on track. Then, I’ve been saying, there is not much difference between Williams and Ferrari, if there is any, so it is possible Williams is actually even faster than Ferrari. Rosberg also might get another launch out of the grid like Austria. There was not much difference between 2 Mercedes, so it will probably be close.

    1. Raikkonen has had very poor first laps. He will get swamped is my prediction.

      1. What season you have been watching? Apart from last race he has had good starts / very good first laps.

  3. Service as usual. Only thing out of norm was Vettel not getting 3rd. As usual, Hulkenberg was in Q3 unlike his teammate who was eliminated in Q2. Kvyat outqualified his teammate. Hamilton made mistakes, but got the pole anyway. But, I think Williams is faster than Ferrari. There’s been some tracks where they were so close, I think the only reason Ferrari was ahead at those tracks was the drivers. This and next race are not the best for Vettel half the time, as all the European circuits are actually. Raikkonen might just get the upperhand.

    1. The car development make more sense. Williams got a new package recently.

      1. A new Mercedes PU to be precise

Is it just me or am I in the minority when I say Carlos Sainz Jr > Max Verstappen?

    1. He was 4 tenths faster in FP3, so something went wrong on that car, setup or mechanical.

    2. No, it’s not just you. I agree wholeheartedly.

    3. It appears I am included in the minority. Sainz simply is silently delivering amazing performances race by race, while Verstappen is gradually failing to impress me with each passing GP, compared to Sainz, which includes on-track performances and off-track comments. Excluding talks about Max’s talent, which I am sure is a huge thing, I think that Sainz is showing us that he is already miles ahead of Max in the level of maturity, given the young age of both drivers, and that Max’s talent is really something special.

      1. Add me to that group.

      2. “Max’s talent is really something special”.
I meant to say “Carlos’ talent” in the last sentence of my comment

      3. Sainz is 20, Verstappen is 17. You mature a lot in those 3 years, and learn a lot too. For Maz it’s looking a bit like too much too soon.

        1. True, you can mature a lot in 3 years, but if someone is in formula 1 then someone should already be mature enough to handle the pressure whatever age someone is, although I agree it is too soon. I will for sure have my attention on Max next season.

    4. Answer is Yes, despite a few.

  5. Hamilton was 0.017 faster than I predicted, pretty close tbh

  6. Mehri Q1 time 99.377s
    Rosberg Q1 time 92.737s

    107% time 99.229s.
I haven’t heard of any special dispensation for Mehri to run, did I miss something?

    1. Ignore that, BBC have the Q1 times wrong.
      Kimi did 93.426 in Q1, making 107% 99.966s

I guess Mehri is lucky more front runners didn’t run options in Q1 though.

At the sharp end, it’ll be the same old story. But, Williams vs Ferrari might be a good battle. I know the Williams is better on the straights. The Ferraris will have to get by in the very early stages. Otherwise I think it’ll be an afternoon of cruising up to the back of the Williams, only for them to stretch just enough of a gap to stay ahead.

Not quite the gains Force India were expecting. I expect Max to be quite racy.

I see the updated areo package Manor brought has made all of the difference… why bother updating that car at all.

    1. why bother updating that car at all.

Making sure they stay within 107%?

        @paeschli

Yeah, I was being pretty flippant with that remark. Very close for Mehri today. They’ll always struggle with a 2014 spec power unit in the back. To be fair, the new package looks much better than before. It, too, is technically a year old as they originally intended to implement these updates at last year’s British GP!

  8. Mehri isn’t doing himself any favors with this. 2 seconds slower that his teammate is too much.
I wonder if Stevens gets the best parts etc because he is the one paying bills with his sponsors.
