   Ah, thank god the Beeb are actually showing this one live for a change. Since moving back to the UK watching the “delayed extended race highlights” has been the bane of my life. You miss out on heaps of detail not watching every lap, you can’t track people’s pace or gaps between cars, you can’t follow battles down the field that the camera’s aren’t watching and you lose track of the pit stop strategies. I know they can’t show the whole race all the time, but watching all of the pre and post race drivel really doesn’t make up for not being able to immerse yourself in the whole race.

      @geemac Indeed, this is exactly why I subscribe to Sky for the F1. That’s what it’s there for. Like everything in life, it could be cheaper, but it isn’t, so there it is…

         Well, ok, but it would be far wiser for F1 to not be behind a paywall. It is astonishing that so few folks in the UK watched Lewis Hamilton taking his third title, it is now a sport only really watched on TV by fanatics, such as those of us who come and read about it here.

         What Sky charges is insane, and for people like me who have no interest in football, it is simply not reasonable, especially with F1 being something of a shadow of what it once was now it is trying to be ‘green’.

         Personally I’m not too fussed about ‘the masses’ missing out on seeing Lewis take his 3rd title as it happened. As long as the fans get to see it, but I appreciate it has been taken away from too many by being behind the pay-wall.

         The BBC has a duty to spend its licence money appropiately and I tend to agree that the mega-bucks an exclusive F1 deal costs is not appropiate (I would apply this rule also to any cash-rich sport).

         I also have absolutely no interest in football, can’t stand it at all. I signed up for F1 as soon as the deal happended back in 2011/2012 and back then it was possible to get F1 HD without any of the other subscription sports channels. Prior to that we didn’t subscribe to Sky at all. Saying that, there is plenty of other decent content (alltho plenty of rubbish too) that takes the sting out of the £36 a month cost of watching F1 live (I do also very much like the Sky F1 coverage, it’s the best there has ever been, imho.)
