Nico Rosberg put Mercedes on top in the second practice session in Singapore while his team mate had a difficult session.

A hydraulic problem prevented Lewis Hamilton from doing his race simulation runs at the end of the session. Rosberg had no such problems, though his team did alert him to a brake problem near the end of his final run.

As Hamilton’s qualifying preparation runs were also disrupted the two Mercedes had five cars between them at the end of Friday’s running. Kimi Raikkonen led the way for Ferrari, lapping within three-tenths of a second of Rosberg’s best.

The two Red Bulls were next, Max Verstappen edging Daniel Ricciardo by two-hundredths of a second. Ricciardo had a strong run on super-softs in his race simulation stint, though he complained about being held up by Felipe Nasr. Ricciardo spun to a stop earlier in the session after clipping the wall.

Sebastian Vettel was well off Raikkonen’s time in his Ferrari, and was only a few hundredths of a second ahead of Nico Hulkenberg’s Force India. Behind Hamilton the two Toro Rossos completed the top ten, sandwiching Fernando Alonso. However the McLaren driver stopped at the end of the session and reported a possible gearbox problem.

There were more problems for Romain Grosjean who limped back to the Haas garage with a badly damaged rear wing. He added just 12 laps to the two he completed in the first session.

  1. That further complicates things and that consequently bodes well for tomorrow. And race day for that matter.

  2. Might just one of the best races of the season, not so very for the action and the overtaking, but because we could finally see a close fight for 1st like Spain this year.

  3. My predictions will be a llotery

  4. 1. Lewis Hamilton
    2. Max Vestapan
    3. Sebastien Vettel

    Go Lewis go!

    1. lolz. Lewis isn’t winning anything. His team certainly isn’t doing anything about his reliability issues or his starting procedures/issues.

  5. I hope both Mercs fluff the start.

  6. if the qualy stays the same as p2, i look forward to another raikkonen – vestappen battle/drama on raceday

    1. Done in the style Raikkonen – Bottas.

  7. Mclaren’s prediction of taking the fight to Ferrari is coming true! /endsarcasm
