  1. Sterling work from Felipe. He showed silverspooned Stroll just where gets off the tram.Money does not produce laptimes.
    Williams should have kept him, imho. I really think that the alternatives are no better. And Stroll is much worse.

    1. I think Massa didn’t really want to go for another year. He wanted to retire last year, but Williams didn’t really have anyone to take Bottas’ place so he agreed to come back. But this year, they have the likes of Di Resta and Kubica, and Kvyat and Wehrlein if they want to breach their Martini contract (or even end it early).

      1. @hugh11 ”if they want to breach their Martini contract” – They wouldn’t breach it as having at least one driver who’s at least 25 isn’t a must.

    2. Hugh last year Massa felt that he wasn’t faster enough anymore. This year car shows quite the opposite. Plus that he knows that no one that Williams will put in his place will be faster than him, the only one that had a good chance to be faster is Wherlein.

      It’s a shame that he got unlucky at Q3. He had pace to be P5.

  2. Can never understand how the Williams and 2 Torro Rossos start in front of Hamilton…surely he would start 20th after his crash….but as the other 3 have penalties that take them further back..why are they in front….I know its the rules but it makes no sense

    1. @jop452 It’s very obvious that Hamilton will start behind them due to not setting a time at all in qualifying, unlike the Toro Rosso-drivers and Stroll.

    2. @jop452 Technically Hamilton is a DNQ as he failed to set a time in Q1 within 107% of P1. He will start at the discretion of the stewards but the rules say that when you’re given dispensation to race after failing to qualify, you must start in last place.

  3. @hugh11. Well, he said so himself, that he was prepared to do another season. IF he feels his efforts are appreciated.
    He is only human, like the rest of us. But I would really hate see drivers in a Williams that are pure mediocrity. If you have a family it must be a nightmare, to have a seat in F1, I guess. Never at home for half of the week, and there are real risks too, as Massa knows only too well, after what happened in Hungary. Rosberg was a wise man, I think.

  4. Alonso right in the mix, a good start and he could pull off something special.

    The bloke’s due some luck.

    1. I’m predicting he’ll make a stellar start into 4th or 3rd, then fall back down to 11th over the course of the race (after lap 2).

  5. First sight of the great battle to come at Renault. Nice and tight between Hulk and Sainz, not much between them. Surely this should push the team upward as it is the case for ForceIndia.
    I feel that some drivers who has an easy time against their teammate might not push as hard as possible.

  7. The disparity between the top six and the rest mean Hamilton could podium or even win with a turn one dust up and a SC. if a few renaults go boom, more likely. If he keeps it on track could be very interesting.

  8. So stroll qualifies 18th, has 5 place grid penalty and starts 17th. Not sure if that happened before
