Charles Leclerc doubts Ferrari’s first major upgrade for three races will make a significant difference to its performance at Paul Ricard.
Team principal Mattia Binotto confirmed in Canada the team has not made any major changes to its car for over a month.“The car as matter of fact is the same that we’ve had since Spain,” he said. “No upgrades for us since then. So the weaknesses are still there on the car, simple as that.”
However Ferrari has arrived at the French Grand Prix with some visible changes to its SF90 including a reshaped front wing. “We have some new parts on the car this weekend so hopefully they will work well for this track,” said Leclerc.
The team has previously admitted it is reconsidering the philosophy behind its car having failed to win a race so far this year despite a strong showing in pre-season testing. However Leclerc indicated the true benefit of the new parts won’t be seen at this particular race.
“I think it will change in different parts of the corner. I don’t think we expect a significant change for this track. But we shall see some results and hopefully it will be better but I don’t think we expect significant improvement for this track particularly.”

Mercedes had 5 races this season in which they finished first and second, meaning a minimum of 43 points at the end of the GP. Ferrari will need to replicate something similar to overtake them.

@drycrust – I.e. Ferrari will not overtake them.
