In the round-up: Kimi Raikkonen says Alfa Romeo’s main shortcoming is a lack of downforce.
[dietersinboxpromo]
What they say
Raikkonen scored in all of the first four races this year but has been outside the top 10 in the last three rounds:
We need more downforce, that’s for sure, to have more overall grip. But apart from that there is not one big area that is something that slows us down. It’s just that we need more grip. I think certain circuits, maybe it could be better over the kerbs, this and that, for sure it could be, but any car could be with the kerbs like Montreal.
We just need to find more downforce overall. For sure that will help, like since I started it’s the same story, that’s the key of many things. You help the tyres to make them work easier plus they will last better. It’s an area that will impact a lot of things. We are not far off but for sure I think that’s what we need a bit more. I think it’s a lot circuit-dependent where we’re going to be.

All those blue, red and white stripes around the track make F1 at Paul Ricard just about unwatchable for me. Or maybe I’m just on the wrong psychotropic substances.

Vettel asked what he can do now to change things after Ferrari lost their bid to have his #CanadianGP penalty reviewed:
"Retire. At least then I'm not in trouble any more.

The ‘purists’, whatever they are, may we’ll spit their breakfasts out at this but here goes. This place has the feel of Pau, Monjuich Park and Rouen Les Essarts rolled in to one! #ABBFormulaE #BernEPrix 😱💪🏻👏🏻 pic.twitter.com/Qv6rbPEEtF

Three hour delay for shakedown and the worst track access i’ve ever experienced, not a vintage start to the Bern E Prix. Cool city though, hopefully the FIA can sort access for tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/MK7GvZSvQf

"It was Sérgio Sette Câmara’s day in France as the Brazilian followed up P1 in Free Practice with his second FIA Formula 2 pole position. The Brazilian ran riot in a chaotic Qualifying session that included two red flags. He was followed by the continually impressive Guanyu Zhou and a resurgent Jack Aitken."

The addition of driver transfers to F1 2019 was warmly received:
This is amazing news! Hats off to Codies and Liberty for actually making it happen. This really changes career mode, no more Pascal Wehrlein driving a Sauber for eight straight seasons

It is quite amusing to see the responses to Karun Chandok’s tweet – the number of people blaming him for keeping Ferrari’s appeal in the news for this long.

@phylyp Yes, they indeed are amusing. TBH, the tweet itself already is.

Was any explanation offered for the smoky Renault cockpits from FP1? I don’t recall reading anything about this in the FP1 or FP2 reports. This video shows it: https://streamable.com/g5obk

@phylyp Ted Kravitz asked Renault & they said they were running the car low with a new plank & it was touching the track & burning a bit at the front.
A new plank touching badly early in a session is pretty common but it’s rare for the smoke to find it’s way into the cockpit. It clears up on it’s own after 1-2 laps when the plank wears down a bit.

Regarding the COTD: Yes, that’s a nice feature, but what I don’t like is the fact we (apparently) won’t be able to choose anymore which driver to replace in career mode. Which means that I might have to take the place of a driver I’d rather not want to replace instead of the other one of that team.
Seb’s response, though.
