Interlagos should dry out for Brazilian Grand Prix

2019 Brazilian Grand Prix weather

Wet weather has created many dramatic moments in the Brazilian Grand Prix, notably during the 2008 and 2012 title-deciders. But any rain this weekend is likely to be gone after Friday.

Rainy weather will greet the teams as the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend begins, but by race day the conditions should be dry and sunny.

The rain may hang around until the start of first practice at 11am local time on Friday, which would make for an unhelpful start to the weekend’s running. Conditions will then begin to clear up, but the chance of occasional rain throughout the rest of the day remains.

After that the conditions should become a lot more consistent, with few surprises in store for the drivers over the rest of the weekend.

Whatever happens on Friday, the teams should get at least an hour of dry running in on Saturday morning ahead of qualifying. It is expected to remain cloudy however, producing air temperatures of little more than 20C, with track temperatures in the thirties.

Race day should be sunny throughout but air temperatures are expected to be little different to Saturday. Last year air and and track temperatures reached respective highs of 25C and 45C during the race, but this year is likely to end up shy of that.

  1. If history has taught us anything, it is that the less representative running the teams get in free practice, the higher the chances are for us to have an interesting race on Sunday.

    1. @geemac But that hasn’t been the case every single time, though, so could go either way.

      1. @geemac Or can go either way.

  2. 11 am or 11:00 on Friday, not Thursday.

  3. Same forecast over and over again this year. Wet thurs, drizzly Fri / Sat, bone dry Sun.

    We need more wet races.

    1. Begin race weekends on Mondays?
