Sainz: “Maximum attack doesn’t always work with Pirelli tyres”

RaceFans Round-up

In the round-up: Carlos Sainz Jnr expects it will be tricky for him to recover from the back of the grid in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

What they say

Sainz, who will start at the back of the grid following his power unit problem in qualifying, expects the tyres will limit how quickly he can work his way forwards.

It’s maximum attack. [But] obviously maximum attack doesn’t always work with Pirelli tyres.

So it would be a compromise between managing the tyres and going maximum attack. So this is probably a very difficult thing to do. But somehow you must always find a way.

Was there another reason why Pierre Gasly’s pre-season crashes “affected his confidence“?

Perhaps it was Helmut Marko’s constant complaining how that pre-season crash had ruined Red Bull’s otherwise championship contending season which hurt Gasly’s confidence?

  1. RE @f1osaurus COTD, I’m sure Helmut Marko would be an even greater asset to Red Bull if he never said anything. Ever.

  2. Did he take the cup of coffee to the night club?
And in the days before Starbucks, hipster coffee bars, and McCafe he must probably have brewed it at home ;)

  3. TBH Grosjean’s complaint was silly, to begin with, given that he clearly had two tyres still on the track, and yet he thought Perez pushed him off, LOL.
