Formula 1’s Fan Festival in South Africa will take place on March 29th, the promoters have confirmed.

Three Formula 1 teams will take part in the demonstration runs which will take place in Sandton.

Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas will be the only current driver taking part in the event. Red Bull will also send a car, which its former driver David Coulthard will demonstrate, and Renault will participate as well

South Africa’s only world champion Jody Scheckter will also demonstrate the Ferrari he used to win the drivers’ title in 1979.

F1’s director of marketing and communications Ellie Norman said the sport is “excited” to be returning to the country, which last held a round of the world championship in 1993.

“South Africa has a very special place in Formula 1 history and we remain committed to returning to South Africa in the future,” she said. “The festival will be an incredible opportunity for the people of Johannesburg to see F1 up close and personal, with live car runs, fan experiences and incredible live music acts.”

Tickets for the event are priced at 60 Rand (£3.08). The event will also feature a fan zone and live music.

    Good to hear.

  3. I remember Renault running a car through Sandton a few years back, it was pretty epic.

  4. Well, it’s not an all team event, but three cars seem like it would be plenty to make it great for those going.

  5. Where do you buy tickets?
