A five-second penalty day.
Norris DOTD, even if I didn’t like his move against Perez, although he fell into the same trap. The latter one with Leclerc didn’t necessitate a penalty IMO.

The first one 100% did. Leclerc was ahead into the corner before being driven off the track. And the second – well, Russel vs Alonso was a good example of how to do it right.

@jerejj I didn’t feel the penalty for Lando pushing Perez off at T4 justified at all and no more than a racing incident. Lando drove an absolute sterling race and fully deserved his DOTD. I will add I am both a Lando and RBR fan (yeah, go figure)…

I don’t feel any of the penalties given we’re deserved at all. They were nothing more than racing incident.
When Lando got his penalty, I felt it was harsh. When Checo got his penalty for Turn 4 I felt it was almost definitely Ferrari International Assistance and confirmed with the turn 6 incident (especially when they ignored LeClerc’s incidents last week).
Max drove another stunning race, Lando deserved DOTD and RBR have still just about managed to extend their advantage…

That ‘Ferrari International Assistance’ is a load of rubbish and you know it. I didn’t see Leclerc forcing another driver off in the same way last time out and his crime last week was on lap 1 when the standards are different admittedly.
Perez had to be given a penalty for the turn four incident for consistency, not even considering that Leclerc was clearly ahead and Perez was much more aggressive that Norris in squeezing the other driver off the track. That the stewards decided the outcome in about 30 seconds shows that it was a slam dunk.

We’re you blind when LeClerc burst Gasly’s tyre then?

@maddme
That was on the first lap, the standards are a bit different as I already said, and the stewards treat the first lap differently, whether you like it or not. Or are you so blind that you didn’t read my comment?

I feel like all the penalties were deserved.
And even better – they were consistent about it.

Now to get rid of that “first lap leniency/blindness” thing.

Absolutely. Good calls from the stewards.

It’s a shame they punish defensive moves that may be somewhat hard but are part of proper racing while clumsy moves like Leclerc’s on Gasly at the start last week got unnoticed by them. I like Charles but on that one he deserved penalty way more than the guys penalised today. Those stewards don’t help themselves to not be labelled Ferrari International Assistance indeed.

Maybe the “Ferrari International Assistance” moniker was justified in the early/mid aughties, like when they declared Renault’s internal mass damper “a mobile aerodynamic part” or somethig like that. In the last 15 years (after Schuey’s first retirement) the moniker lost its sense. And in the last 8 years or so we have the MIA.
Today the first 5s penalty (Lando for forcing out Checo) was not justified in my opinion (Checo was not ahead), but once it was issued, the rest had to be issued for consistency. AFAIAC, the second (Checo forcing Leclerc out first time) was justified (LEC was clearly ahead), and the third wasn’t (this time LEC was a bit behind). Only this last one could be perceived as unfairly favoring Ferrari, but the stewards were kind of forced to issue it.

That’s true, at least for the last round penalties were consistent, but maybe they weren’t completely fair.
