Ferrari have been vocal in the past about trying FL in the last lap. They said it’s usually not worth the risk. They demonstrated that’s actually the correct…. ….for them

Just when you think you’ve seen everything from Ferrari, they pit Leclerc 2 laps from the end when he’s 20 secs ahead of Alonso, Leclerc speeds in the pitlane, Alonso passes him but Leclerc manages to get ahead again. However Leclerc gets a 5 sec penalty for the pitlane infraction and ends up BEHIND Alonso!

And he didn’t even get the fastest lap!

Tbh with how dominant verstappen looked it was always gonna be a risk to not get the FL even with new tyres.

One thing that should be definitely discussed after this race is Ferrari’s work with tires. We all know about their incompetence, but the main reason behind falling more and more back seems to be the tire degradation. It would be quite a blow if they find out their concept is fundamentally flawed in this aspect, and they have to significantly rework it, if not abandon it.

Oh, Ferrari … I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at this point.
I hope Leclerc tears the strategists a new one at the earliest opportunity. But from what I’ve seen of him, he’s probably too busy blaming himself. And as long as that remains his modus operandi, nothing will change at the team.

I see it the same way. Leclerc seems to be extremely honest but also gullible person and Ferrari somehow persuaded him that their incompetence is also his to accept.

There’s only one thing you can guarantee from Ferrari.
They’ll get it wrong.
It doesn’t even matter what it is. They’ll get it wrong.
