  1. @keithcollantine seems to be a “Rate the Race” poll, not a “Vote for DOTW” poll

    1. Ah, I see it’s changed before my very eyes

  2. I was always going to vote for Vettel as the emotional choice in this one, but… he had a great qualifying and salvaged a point from what turned out to be the wrong strategy, so he isn’t a terrible rational choice either.

  3. Can be any of a few drivers.

Verstappen, for doing what he had to, and doing it without fuss whilst missing FP1.
Leclerc, for maximizing his car’s potential, taking P3 in qualifying and forcing Pérez and Red Bull into a strategy that they weren’t too keen on, while making his tyres last the distance without losing too much pace.
Norris, for sticking his car in P6 which is just about all anyone not in a Red Bull, Ferrari or Mercedes can hope for. It wasn’t enough to beat Alpine – but that’s hardly on Norris.
Vettel, for going out swinging and having a point scoring final race.

    1. I will agree with this maybe to add Daniel Riccardo who over the weekend did very well.

    2. Verstappen, for doing what he had to

His job was to get Perez ahead of Leclerc. Vertappen failed to do what he had to do this race.

      1. Wasn’t that Perez’s job?
In your opinion, what could Verstappen have done to help him? Take Leclerc out of the race?

      2. I guess he should’ve hit leclerc, spun him and got a 10 sec penalty, since perez wasn’t quick enough. Indeed, michael, I voted for norris, which is a minority, but did the max he could with the car, I would never vote for a driver just because he retires from f1, I voted for vettel recently when he impressed me more.

  4. As has been the case on several occasions throughout the year, I felt MV was the only objective choice. Disappointing as I really don’t like the guy.

Was tempted to vote for Vettel, but I just wouldn’t have been ‘honest’ making that choice, even though it looks reasonably certain that he would have finished ahead of Stroll had he been on a two stop.

  5. I voted for Max because he didn’t just win this race, this season he accumulated far more championship points than any other driver in history, he achieved the most podiums, the most Fastest Laps, and he appears to have completed more laps than any other driver this season. He has thrown down the gauntlet to every other driver. No one else is going to be World Drivers’ Champion until he retires unless they are prepared to work harder and drive better than he does.

    1. I’d be tempted to say that is why he won the championship though so, but this race just illustrated it, not made it a definite yes this is it @drycrust

I think (haven’t decided) I might instead go for Leclerc (and off those leaving, Vettel clearly did the best even though he had a less than stellar strategy, while Ricciardo had a great race, but left it with to much to do until then; Schumacher and Latifi I think we can leave out of the discussion for this award entirely).

  6. Never in 16 years have I voted Carl Davidson as a DOTW but I’ll do it today for performing one of the most blockheaded and desultory divebombs in F1 history, resulting in pogo bouncing over the kerbs, floor damage and a slowly ruined race that was great fun to watch. A move worthy of Luca Badoer or Jean-Denis Delatraz.

Anyway there was little to choose from. Max and Charles were all right but did not really race after turn one. Seb proved again that he cannot drive wheel to wheel. Lando showed perhaps the most racecraft today of all drivers

  7. I went with Vettel on this one. On track on Sunday, there was really noone standing out in my opinion. In qualy, I was indeed impressed by Vettel’s performance and that would have tipped the scale already.

And he went out in style: fighting for position, longing for a faster strategy and keeping AM’s championship position in mind. He even attended the technical meeting to discuss data afterwards.

Around all that of course the appraisal by others through helmets, media coverage, the dinner with all drivers attending. Made a full racing weekend somewhat worthwhile.

  8. I’d give it to Latifi – for learning how to get out of the barriers when he crashes.

  9. Leclerc did an awesome job to split the red bulls and clinch 2nd. Honourable mentions to Vettel and Norris.

  10. DOTW: VER, DOTD: NOR

  11. I had to vote Max, because logically that was the only choice for this race.

Vettel got a deserved Driver of the Day from FOM for his final race, though, it’ll be nice to see him return in some kind of team leadership role. I know people are saying Audi, but I wouldn’t mind it be at Red Bull either.

  12. Seems obvious that 50\100 people voting for vettel is mainly because he’s leaving, not because he got a point despite being on a bad strategy, in any case he drove pretty well these last few races. I went for norris but leclerc would’ve also been a candidate; verstappen didn’t really have any competition.
