Lucas di Grassi took his first win of 2007 and the championship lead along with it. He profited from poor luck for title rival Timo Glock who narrowly missed out on a podium finish after a stirring drive. Giorgio Pantano finished second ahead of Adam Carroll who scraped across the line ahead of Glock.
The bookies reckon if Fernando Alonso is to storm out of McLaren at the end of the year it will be to return to his former team Renault. Also in the news this week, work set to begin on the Singapore street circuit and a young Canadian scoops the Gilles Villeneuve award.
McLaren has reportedly told Alonso he is free to leave the team at the end of the year if he wishes. Speculation has linked him with a return to Renault for 2008, and it remains to be seen who will drive for new 2008 entrants Prodrive.

An exciting second F3 race at the French Grand Prix weekend saw a maiden win for Britain’s James Jakes. The second race of the weekend saw all the overtaking and incident that was largely missing from the first one.
Kamui Kobayashi won the first Formula 1 support race at Magny Cours despite aggressive attention from team mate Romain Grosjean. Grosjean briefly got past Kobayashi on the second lap before his team mate reversed the move.
