  1. I went to the bahrain gp in 2007. It was my first ever grand prix and a fantastic experience altogether. Bahrain itself is an incredible country, experiencing that furious development the gulf has recently become famous for. We stayed in a beautiful little beach resort about 1.5 hours drive from the track. That was the best and closest we could get. However taxiing to the circuit was not expensive at all. The drive to the circuit is quite incredible.. scenic dessert landscape the whole way, then suddenly the massive entrance to the complex and the huge round princes tower suddenly pops into view. Its literally in the middle of the dessert. The organisation and facilities were of world class standard. We were dropped off at the entrance right in front of our grandstand, which is clearly marked on the ticket. Queing was quick on all three days and the walk from the gate to our seat was not more than 3 mins. We sat in the (middle) university grandstand , which i believe is the best place to sit. It is newly designed with complete cover from the blistering 37 degree sun, but there were no horrible poles supporting it and restricting our view. It overlooks turn 1, 2, and 3, the chicane at the end of the main straight. We also had a clear view of some of the straight and the pit lane exit, as well as the straight that the cars accelerate onto after the chicane. Also included in this view was a clearly visible big screen, the prince’s tower direclty opposite us, and another large section of track in the distance which provides extra viewing and excitement. The hospitality area in front of the main straight is a short walk from the university stand, and is well worth checking out. It has loads of food and official merchandise stalls. I thought it was nicely laid out, with tented areas and huge cushions to relax on and escape the heat. We also managed to get some autographs there on the saturday. The race itself was great too. As a lewis fan, it was awesome to see him qualify 2nd and hold that position till the end of the race in only his 3rd grand prix. We also saw a fair amount overtaking through the chicane (heidfeld passing alonso for a podium position). As i said above.. a really fantastic, and relatively affordable experience.

  2. It was my first ever F1 weekend and I chose Bahrain for the simple fact that my Dad works there and it’s probably the closest venue to India. Was there April 4, 5 and 6.

I was on a tight budget, so decided to spend the practice and qualifying sessions at a cheaper grand stand and watch the race from a better place. So, Friday and Saturday were at the Victory Grandstand and Raceday was from the Turn 1 Grandstand – a good decision, especially for the first few laps of the race when everyone’s bunched together. Also, turn 1 is a great overtaking point at Bahrain, so got quite some action!

Getting to the circuit is great in Bahrain – you have a free bus service from almost all of the major hotels on the island country. The weather isn’t all that great after all it’s a desert, but it’s manageable. It’s a great venue to go to if you’re on a budget like I was. There was an official autograph signing session on Friday, and after aboutan hour long wait in the queue, I got both Kimi and Massa’s autographs as well as those from the Super Aguri drivers. To make things sweeter, Massa won that race!!!
