Am I just being a grizzled old curmudgeon who doesn’t like lesser sports polluting his motor racing, or was the shoe-horning of tennis great Serena Williams into the end of the Monaco Grand Prix incredibly cack-handed?

I felt it detracted from the conclusion of F1’s most famous race.

I have nothing but absolute awe-filled respect for Serena Williams, however I was beyond irritated by the lack of respect shown to Max when DC pulled her into the post race interview.

I simply, for the life of me, cannot understand why this decision was made. This was Max’s moment to shine and Ms. Williams’ achievements have zip-all to do with F1 and Monaco. To her credit, she seemed as perplexed by the decision as many of us.

This rabid pursuit of celebrity culture that we have often seen during those god-awful manic pre-race “grid walks” are beyond nauseating. I cannot help but think this was some sort of pre-meditated attempt to bring that vapid “star-studded” rubbish back to “the show”.

    Pathetic.
